Major Saturday morning bummer: my cat locked herself in the bathroom.

Due to litterbox issues I keep my cat in the bathroom at night. I feed her before I go to bed and so she has her food, water, litterbox, and a nice place to sleep with a heating pad. By morning she is hungry and starts pawing on the door (better the bathroom door than my bedroom door).
This is what I have on the door, just a simple flip lock:



It works very well and keeps the door nicely locked and the cat managed to flip it so it did lock. My pleas to unlock the door fell on deaf ears, so there was really only one way to get in because when you got to go, you got to go.

3. Nope, the hinges are hidden when the door is closed. Everything is hidden.

That lock is very simple, but works very efficiently. Had to put the shoulder to the door. Fortunately it popped the lock open enough to open the door. I'll have to move it up higher on the door by tonight.

8. For future reference with those kind of locks:

Just slip something flexible and only slightly rigid (heavy paper like a folder or something works nicely) through the door frame under the lock, when you get to the lock push up and out to get it open.

You learn that trick when you have a small child in the house.

Plus, that door was closed very tight. Small children do make you inventive and adaptive.
