So I have started smoking again...
No flames please, just a sad admission on my part.

March 4 would have been 2 years. I plan on quitting again this coming March 4 (my 40th bday) but for now, stresses from the past 4-5 months have caught up with me and so I smoke :(

1. My dear malta blue!
I'm so sorry to hear this, sweetie...

I really hope that the stresses you're experiencing will go away soon, so that you can quit...

I'm sure you're keeping it away from your precious daughter, right?

3. Of course Peggy!
And I promise, this is a short relapse - I already have set a target quit date again....

Between the STBE, the burglary and my brother, I just felt way too much pressure, and needed an outlet.

2. No criticism here...
I quit smoking many times before I finally quit the last time about 10 years ago. I was 50.

Next time when you get past the hard part just remember that smokers are always smokers just like alcoholics are always alcoholics. You can stay clean for a day or for a decade, but if you think you can control your addiction and just smoke one or a few you'll always fall off the wagon. I think that's a lesson all smokers learn.

4. Yeah - I was almost 2 years smoke free...
And I agree with you about the addiction.

Maybe I can talk my brother into quitting with me this time....

5. high-five!
Smoking is cool. It is sexy and sophisticated and makes one look older and more attractive.

8. No judgment here. I quit for five years
and then un-quit when I got married. (Some would call this a Sign, as I subsequently got de-married.)

Haven't managed to stay quit again, 13 years later. I've tried about a zillion times.

I feel your pain.

You can do it again.

Think of it this way - the more frequently you quit, the less frequently you smoke! (At least, that's what I try to console myself with.)

When you're ready to quit again, you will. It's OK, MB.

9. thanks for the support leftyclimber

Amusingly enough, the STBE was really pissed when I quit - said I should have consulted with him first :eyes: since it would directly impact him. Geez, the two weeks of "I'm quitting on X date" wasn't enough for him

10. My ex acted like he was being victimized and begged me to smoke again
That's illustrative of why he's now my ex.

12. I wish you well
I set a date, and it worked for me ( 8 years 26MAR09 ). But, I was not dealing with a lot of stress at the time.

I'm sure everything will work out for you.

Just take care of yourself, however you need to for now. Worry about the rest later.

Best to you.

15. Any reason you're waiting for another 2 months to quit?

2 years is the longest I've ever quit, too, but I quit again at the end of 2008. It's definitely tough during stressful times....

16. Next month will be four years for me
I am on so many physce meds that even when something traumatic happens, I still stay cool enough to not want a smoke. I think so anyway. I have been tested many times...

18. Sorry
That stinks. Lets hope you stay with it when you try again.

I made it 3 months last year.. hmm.. or the year before and have recently been threatened by loved ones to stop. They seem to be teaming up on me even though neither of the main culprits speak.

I plan to give in.. it's just me needing to decide again.
