1.) Harmless, naive types with a less refined sense of humor. For example, last year my 7 year old son thought that rhyming thing was the shit but fortunately he grew out of it.

On a music board I'm on, it's when the new stuff comes out. There's an influx of new people, and the content on the board changes (for better or worse is a matter of perspective). The point is that at fairly regular intervals, there will be a distinct change in membership and then there are these little dramas.

It's because there are 80 discussion topics on the first page of every forum. If the admins cut that in half then maybe the better threads would be the only ones that were on the page 1 of that forum. Everybody feels like they have to keep putting out inane crap because they are constantly seeing their ideas sink to the bottom of the page. If the pages were shorter, the topic would just be gone and less likely responded to. I don't know if that's it or not, but it crossed my mind.
