Not surprising. I think you have plenty of natural tension here. I would agree with the assessments you made and add that part of the issue is there are so many different visions as to what the Lounge should be. After all you have:

1) Those that think it's a great place to share the trivial happenings in their lives.

2) Those looking for emotional support and sympathy

3) Those looking for and sharing advice on various issues

4) Those that want to relive their junior high school popularity based culture

5) Those that think it's a comedy forum and should be all about jokes and running gags

6) Those that think it's a catch all for things like sports and non-important current events

7) Those that think it's a forum for pop culture

8) Those that think it's a music forum

9) Those that think it's a forum for exchanging pictures

10) Those that think it's forum just to chat and BS


Now people can believe in one or more of these ideas. The problem is the things you don't like will annoy most people. That leaves a general feeling of dissatisfaction, that can be ignited by "throw away" comments.

I am not the only lounger who went there for a year, and there are not a few who were destroyed there in our mad game. Yes the lounge might have some new faces and have lost some of the old, but it is still essentially what it was before. I for one, am happy to be back.
