1. I don't get it
Did he win championships? Yes.

Set records? Dozens.

Did he like to look at himself naked before games while saying"Ricky is the best."? Yes.

You have proven you know nothing about baseball if ricky henderson is not a Hall of Famer.

I CANNOT wait until his speech in Cooperstown. I'm setting the VCR.

2. I never thought of that . . . will he talk about himself in the third person?
I'll be so disappointed if he doesn't.

The guy was the single greatest leadoff hitter in the history of baseball. If he's not a Hall of Famer, who is?

4. Blyleven is a borderline guy
Very, very good? Yes.
A player for the ages? No.
He's somewhere in between.

That said, if you are letting in Guidry and Sutton, you let in Blyleven. If you let in Eddie Murray and Paul Molitor, you have to admit Jim Rice.

He needs to hurry up, though. Eventually, you are going to have an onslaught of pitchers with gaudier stats, like Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, and Greg Maddux, plus guys like Mike Mussina, Andy Petite, Curt Schilling, and Tom Glavine, who will probably ake a year or two.

12. Blyleven won a lot of games while playing for crappy teams
That should be considered when looking at his stats.

14. Personally, I think that Eddie was/is one of the greatest of all time.
He was only one of three players in baseball history with at least 3,000 hits and 500 home runs.

The other two are Hank Aaron and Willie Mays.

Tim

P.S. I realize that Rafael Palmeiro is also supposed to be in this "club" as well, but because of the steroid scandal I didn't include him.

15. Babe Ruth and Cy Young weren't unanimous
Neither were Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, Lou Gerigh, or Hank Aaron. I think some sportswriters are so hung up on themselves that they do crap like this to puff up their ego.

6. Maybe he owes them money?
Can't think of a rational baseball reason not to vote for him. Not even an irrational one.

8. Why Davey Concepcion is not in the HOF is beyond me
The man was one of the most talented shortstops in the league but because he was on a team with names such as Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez and Pete Rose - people forget what an amazing shortstop that was on the Big Red Machine.

He's the only one on that list not in the HOF that is legally allowed to be in it. Sure, some might say that Ken Griffey Sr. should be in there too but I think there is more play as to why it should be Davey Concepcion.

10. Sportswriters. What do you expect?
The dumbest bunch of people this time of Republican politicians. Woody Paige is among their numbers - enough said.
