He's been having a really rough time at work lately - having to work 12- to 14-hour days, as well as going in to work on what were supposed to be his days off. And that's just the start of it. Those kind of hours suck, and whatever is going on to make those hours necessary probably involves really hostile workplace shit. It never seems to be that work is just picking up and the workload is temporary while new people are hired and trained. :(
