What kind of peppers were in the salsa? Banana, jalepeno, serrano, piquin, habanero or red sativa? It matters :P

on the list of ingredients. It was medium salsa if that helps.

16. That's probably cayenne pepper

which is a very hot pepper, or an 8 on the Heat Scale (Bell pepers are a 1 and a habanero is a 10, though the proper scale used now is the Scoville scale.) Of course, they wouldn't use very much in it, saving costs on peppers and still end up with a medium-heat salsa.

If you don't mind not being able to taste anything for about an hour or so (or breaking out in a major sweat!) those little dried red peppers used in Thai and Vietnamese dishes will also clear out your sinuses without resorting to snorting the salsa ;)
