Anyone using Windows 7 yet?
I installed it a few days ago, gave it a test drive, then returned to XP. Probably should have kept it installed longer, but from what I saw, it shows promise. People who know their tech say that Microsoft seems to have learned their lesson with Vista, and may have gotten it right this time.

1. In that case, Windows 7 should be a free upgrade from Vista

2. I'm one and one

I tried installing it on an ECS7050 board with dual core Athlon and 2GB RAM. Halfway through the install got a BSOD. When I tried to reinstall XP, said no drive present. Tested all hardware-OK. Had to flash the BIOS to get XP to install. Same board had no problems before with XP or 2 flavors Linux.

Tried on a ECS6100 board with a 1.9GHZ Sempron and 2 Gb RAM. No problem, works just fine. Installed various non-M$ apps without a hitch. Works with OpenOffice 3.0, Spybot S&D, AVG, Foxit Reader, Seamonkey browser and my NTI Mediamaker. Plays DVDs and CDs. Runs faster than Vista

5. I'll give it a shot
I'm unemployed now and have some extra hard disks... what the heck.

As for those who are waiting, M$ beta OS's are not something you should be expecting to use on a daily basis. You definitely shouldn't quit your day-OS for this...

6. Nope - system requirements are GREATER than Vista's.
(1GB RAM, 16GB HD space -- no typos...)

Vista 64-bit is certainly stable, and actually works after SP1 is installed, but still has some unfortunate quirks. MS needs to fix things before moving forward.

That or they're deliberately fucking up their OS, so SaaS can be sold. (Software as a Service, SaaS, which only makes an aSS out of those who buy into that.)

10. It's only free beta testing if you give feedback to M$.
I've been playing with it since Saturday, and it "seems" to be cleaner than Vista, but there isn't a lot of "wow, I gotta get this!" to it.

I have Vista on a laptop and I wouldnt want to put my desktop through that. Will windows 7 be better than XP?

13. Got it installed now (VMware)
I was having a problem installing it to a spare hard drive, so I took the easy way and made a virtual machine for it.

It's interesting...
