Anybody know how to reduce the size of an animated .gif?

I've got this animated version of my current avatar:



I'd like to make it my avatar, but it's 14 KB and the size limit is 1 KB. Anybody know how to make it fit, or is this just a lost cause?

1. Can't be done, sorry...

the animation is what increases the file size, and you're not going to get an animated gif that comes in under the 1k limit unless you shrink the image so much that the point of having it animated is lost.

3. Well, there are ways to reduce the size, but not down to 1k...

Optimizing the animation via a global palette and stripping out repetitive pixels helps... any Animated GIF creation software should help you out...
