12. You know, I didn't think it was that bad. And, I think the clichés were
mostly intentional.

There were a *ton* of references to other movies (Star Wars and the version of Flash Gordon released in the early 80's, to name two), and I think they were intended, albeit clichéd.

26. Possibly in the top ten of shittiest movies of all time
and I would automatically exclude all those cheesy B movies from that top ten list, because they KNEW they were cheesy. I'm talking movies that wanted/pretended/assumed they were legitimate, but were pieces of shit.

Nemesis is that movie.

Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 08:41 PM by Paragon
Offhand, I can think of two crappy Denzel Washington movies:

Virtuosity - Russell Crowe impaled on glass sculpture
Ricochet - John Lithgow impaled on something

...and then there's Sean Bean, who gets shoved onto a pointy object by Harrison Ford at the end of Patriot Games.

11. Dodged a bullet with LOTR.
Apparently they filmed Saruman falling and landing on a large spiked wheel.

The most tragic use of this cliche was The Name of the Rose, where the villian inquistor's carriage careens off a cliff ejecting the villian onto some sort of farm equipment. Sean Connery and Christian Slater give the requisite wince. Otherwise it was a pretty good movie.

The worst villian death was Con Air; where the villian, Cyrus the Virus (was that Malkovitch? Good God!) survives the main plot plane crash, a fire truck chase sequence down the Las Vegas strip, the subsequent crash that flings him through the air, and finally succumbs when the pile driver he lands on smashes his head. Nick Cage as Lead Wincer.

31. Sudden Impact,
a very typical, predictable, cliche-ridden Dirty Harry film. Actually, it was kind of fun to see because the villian was SOOOOO bad and SOOOOO horrible, that you wanted to jump up and cheer when he fell onto a Carousel and was impaled on the pole of a horse.

Then there was Carl from Ghost, who succumbed to a pane of window glass that sliced through him and nailed him to the window, then had the pleasure of devils coming up, grabbing him, then whisking him off to hell where he belonged.

45. that one with Denzel Washington..
I forget what it was called...they have a fight on a big radio antenna..sorta like the end of "Cable Guy" with Jim Carrey..

I remember "Ice Tea" was in the movie as well...It was about some killer who threatened Denzel's family...videotaped his walk through his house, up to the family bedroom to scare Denzel...

In the end, Denzel faked his death...pretending to go insane from the mind tricks played on him by the bad guy...The killer thought he was dead, then Denzel called him out, and they had the final fight up in the tower...
boy..I know this makes no sense to those who haven't seen the movie...these are the only fragments I can remember, and I forget the name..

but yeah, the bad dude ends up impaled

oh, and I believe "The Crow" with Branden Lee...they had a fight on top of the church...I think the bad dude in the end was impaled too..

BUt the impalement is not the bad guy's (an android) real death -- he dies when his processor is grabbed by Denzel and smashed in the pavement.

Now who plays the villain?

52. Memory fading fast.....
"Flesh for Frankenstein", aka "Andy Warhol's Frankenstein" the Baron gets a pole run through his chest.

"Trog" if you consider said creature a villain, it meets its end as it falls onto a stalagmite....I think it was trying to avoid Joan Crawford. (the real villain)

I imagine there were various bad guys harpooned in the James Bond films but I can't remember which ones...maybe all of them?

Elizabeth Taylor gets impaled at the end of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"........alright that one is an outright lie....it was Sandy Dennis that was impaled...no wait nevermind...I need sleep.
