Our cats are all in front of the heating vents
It's not particularly cold inside--we're well insulated--but they just KNOW how cold it is out there and feel compelled to soak up all the heat before it gets into the house.

1. Cats are Heat Vampires
It doesn't matter if it's a vent, a radiator, or your torso, if it emits warmth, they are going to suck it right up.

exposed! Think those Steeler (and mayor Steelerstahl!) folks will be out with no shirts at the rally?

:hi: It's warmer in the house than I would have expected!

3. I'm glad I'm not going to the game on Sunday
We're staying home where it's warm and the snacks are better.

6. I can't believe all the people who were at the Steeler tree today
although I briefly thought about taking my son - if I hadn't had to work, I might have.

Steeler fans are just irrepressible!

We are invited to a party on the North Side - we thought about going since there is no school on Monday - but the traffic is always insane after. (and might be even more insane WHEN they win! ;)

well, stay warm and happy cheering!

4. My silly cats are now both curled up and sleeping peacefully.
Shiloh has curled up in/on my coat and Shocco has curled up inside/on top of a woolen blanket.

They really lead the good life. Got it made, those two.

7. We have a furry wall in the dining room
Our black part-Persian runt (pisspot) lies on the floor vent under the sideboard. Her ultra-fine black hair flies up between the sideboard and the wall and sticks to the (gold colored) wall. I have to take a swiffer to it on a regular basis. Ick.

In this cold snap they've all been fighting over the primo heat spots:
1) on the corner of the area rug closest to the woodstove
2) in the straw basket near the woodstove
3) on the heating vent in the dining room
4) under the gooseneck lamp in Mr. MG's office
5) on the back of the comfy chair close to the woodstove

There have been tussles over these spots as one cat presumes another knows something s/he doesn't about the chosen spot. "Hey...is it warmer there? Then I want that spot!" Fangs, claws, and hissing ensue. We've had to break up several fights in the past few days.

8. Two of mine regularly argue over who gets to sleep in the heated cat bed.
One day Jeoffry the gray tabby was sleeping in it, and Milo, the big fluffy orange and white guy, walked up to him and started whacking him on the head! When this tactic failed to make Jeoffry leave the bed, Milo just piled in on top of him. Eventually Jeoffry got so hot and uncomfortable that he crawled away and Milo got the bed to himself.

9. I told Mr. MG we should get a heated cat bed
He reminded me that we'd need three, and even so, they'd decide that only one was the "desirable" one and they'd fight over it, leaving the other two to go to waste. He was right, of course. Tossed that idea.

I've seen the whacking move! It's usually quite effective. Good on Jeoffry for holding out as long as he did!

10. My daughter has a small tablecloth over her computer desk that goes down to the floor.
The table is right over a vent. One of mine has been inside there all day, a regular cat sauna.

12. My apartment is really hot. My cats are splayed all over the place but especially not
near the rads. They barely want to cuddle at night. Boy I wish the landlord would lower the heat.

15. all 4 cats in my house hate one another but they're cold enough to curl up together
OR they each take over a chair in the living room so there is no place to sit.
