Damn -- my favorite radio station in Los Angeles is going off the air.
"Indie 103" is calling it quits. They have been playing some killer music on their last day -- lots of X, Sex Pistols, Clash, Buzzcocks, etc...but I'm going to miss them.

Fuck...now what am I going to listen to in my car?

2. Do you have an iPod jack?
Be your own DJ, which is what I have done. I am in L.A. too, and am impatient with most of the radio stations. They are pretty much the same no matter where you go, because of the ClearChannelization of the medium.

8. Have you tried KXLU
88.9

Weak signal, unfortunately you can readily heard it only in the LA area south bay and westside.

BTW, that killer music you heard on Indie 103.1's last day was a loop of just six songs, plus a plug for their Web site. Granted they were 6 killer classic punk sings.

9. I know -- I heard "Anarchy in the UK" on my way home last night...
and then heard it again this morning on my way to work!

I live in La Crescenta and work in Burbank - I will try to pick up KXLU.

11. There is an evangelical station in Sunland
on the same frequency as KXLU

They have been trying to complain about the interference to the FCC to no avail

I think it is unlikely you can get KXLU in the valley anywhere

10. Their first iteration, which was killed in 2000, became Sirius channel 18.
And did so through a long, meandering evolution that involved internet-only radio. I didn't realize they'd gone back to a similar format; when they killed it in 2000, they switched to a Spanish language format.

I was thrilled when I found the resurrected 103 on Sirius (with a couple of the same DJs from before, believe it or not). I highly recommend subscribing to Sirius (they have more hardcore indie channels than 18/the Spectrum, too).
