When I select a SO is it OK to change his or her name?
I picked one out online, but he has the same name as a previous boyfriend, and this is at times mildly confusing in casual conversation. Also, it's a fairly common name so when I call for him in public, I'm surrounded by dudes in their late thirties. I'd like to change it, but he's 37, so he's answered to his current name for a while and I'm worried he might be confused by the transition.

3. And increasingly accurate.
That's okay though, because I'm the beneficiary on his insurance policy.

11. Here's the plan:
Call him 'Binky Chubbikins' for a period of 2 solid weeks. After that time, he'll be thrilled beyond words if you stop calling him that and instead start referring to him as 'Bruce,' or 'Fred,' or 'Percival' or frankly any other name you like that isn't currently his.
