The kicker: There is no wind! Gusts up to 60mph were expected. So state and city workers got off. Schools were closed. Homeless people experiencing housing insecurity were evacuated from beaches. And... and... and...

...nothing.

Synopsis
A front is currently passing over Oahu, and although gusty southwest winds have not been as strong as expected, strong wind gusts will persist across Maui county as the front progresses eastward through this afternoon. The front will be weakening as it moves onto the Big Island early this evening. Winds will diminish overnight and Saturday and swing out of the northeast as drier conditions settle over the state through the holiday weekend. Light trade winds will give way moderate to fresh northeasterly winds by mid week as a shear line or front moves across the islands.

edit: So let me see if I've got this straight. You guys slogged in there in below-zero gtemps, snow, etc., etc. Meanwhile, out here, it's, um, cloudy, showery and breezy (not even as much as the night before last!), and we're off.
