I'll update with the latest "Crisis in Critters' House" news!

PS I have a burnt-out headlight.

5. I got home the night before last to find a bird flying around my dining room.

It's gone now...flew out an open window, into the -15 air.

7. OMG, did you find out how it got in?
That had to be an adrenaline rush. Glad it was able to fly out an open window.

A few years ago, a bird got into our garage and in its panic, flew into a window and broke it. Poor bird was pretty messed up, cut and bleeding, but it flew away before we could do anything for it.

10. the guy from the gas company could not get the resparking mechanism on
the water heater to work, furnace came on right away. He messed with it for about half an hour and decided it was a mechanical problem with the unit itself. So an appliance tech is coming out to fix it today.

this all started because the gas company did line servicing in our neighborhood and turned off the gas....on the coldest night since LAST
January. My house was damn cold too.

14. I visited a nursing home resident, a parishioner, today and learned
they went without heat for about 36 hours. There were space heaters brought in, and lots of blankets. Just as they were preparing to evacuate to other homes, they got it fixed. This has been an awful time for everyone!

Thank you ThomCat!
