I've got some images that I'd like to use as Avatars, but they're too big.

Any ideas? They're about 8k each.

Reduce image size to 48x48 pixels.

Save as a jpeg using greyscale mode.

OR

Save as a gif using a 16 color palette - again, greyscale.

You'll easily get it down to 1kb.

What program are you using to resize the pics with? Try irfanview.... www.irfanview.com - that'll help.

If you have photoshop, paint...any sort of photo editor, you can squash them using Image-Stretch/Skew...just change the properties to 50%, 30% ...whatever to get them to the size you want. (It's been my experience that using even numbers... 50, 40, 30...not 25, 15 etc. works better, otherwise they can go wonky.;))
