but it's a little more complicated. Did you see that on Mythbusters where they tested the idea that alcohol is good for you when you're cold?

Basically, to sum up, it's worse to drink alcohol in the long run because it spreads the heat to your extremities. It makes you feel warmer for a while, but the loss of heat to your vital core will kill you faster.

If you are not in danger of dying from the cold, but in danger of suffering from minor frostbite, etc, drinking alcohol will help.
