This is the best part of FB for me. I have half a dozen or so friends I probably wouldn't have connected with on DU, and I'd have missed something that's come to mean a lot to me.

I don't come to the Lounge often but I found that an awfully lot of really nice people hang out here because I talk to them on Facebook. I find I'm spending more time on FB chatting with DU'ers than I'm spending on DU.

FB has actually been very freeing. People know who you are, who your other RL friends are and it's been really, really cool.

My disclaimer: I've come to really love Oeditpus Rex and I've put him on my list of possible future husbands.

That's my favorite way to "talk" to people. But otherwise, I just join in "conversations" by commenting on someone's status or their posted items.

6. Using the private message feature

You can send private messages back and forth. That's how I end up spending most of my time on FB. :blush: And someone set up a DU facebook chat room. I haven't used it yet but it's there. I figure the next time DU goes down, that's where I'm heading.

...in that I know the usernames of all my DU Facebook friends. Sometimes you can find out from the DU Facebook group, sometimes from the Lounge and sometimes from a PM.

They're ruined it by letting everybody join. It was much better when they limited it college students only, and colleges had to be added manually by the FB team.

My friends list includes DUers, some wonderful people who have belonged to various message boards with me for the last 10-ish years, many family members, and lots of RL friends (including long-ago far away friends and newer local friends).
