I don't want to spoil it, so I'll say that it all makes sense. The biggest surprise was the gunshot. That was the only part that I completely did not see coming, although I should have because I've seen most of that sequence in real life.

That literally took my breath away.
And what was worse about it is that it set up the next several minutes in a way that you really did have no clue at all what was about to happen.

Her freakout coming back from Earth just did not jibe with how she'd been acting right before that happened, but then when it happened, it jibed perfectly.
