I know aviation so I can identify the errors. And I have to assume they make the same kind of mistakes when they report on subjects I don't know about, so I don't trust them to be accurate about anything. This is probably because of the 24-hour cable news cycle and the fact that media outlets are more interested in glitz and flash and instant reporting than in getting it right.
