Thank heavens: Suspect Arrested In Dog Burnings (Denver)
I know there were several DUers who were following this story (along with Denverites. Thank God, it looks like they nabbed the crazy bastard.

Jefferson County Investigators Make Progress In High-Profile Case
GOLDEN, Colo. -- Jefferson County authorities said they have arrested suspect in the burning of three dogs, 7NEWS reported Wednesday. -snip-

The break in the case came Monday when the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office released enhanced surveillance photographs of the suspect in the burning of dogs in February. -snip-
.....
Earlier that night, a worker at the Colorado Cinemas Olde Town 14 movie theater in Arvada, Colo., discovered a kennel inside a burning trash bin located behind the building. Locked inside were two dogs, yelping. The worker grabbed a fire extinguisher and was able to put the fire out but it was too late for one of the puppies.

The animal had been burned beyond recognition, police said.

The 8-week-old black lab that survived and was taken to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, where she was treated for burns to her face and paws and smoke inhalation. Doctors expect her to make a complete recovery.
Both dogs' mouths and paws had been bound with duct tape, investigators said.

(Just a bit of warning to the very small minority of DUers who always seem to weigh in on discussions of animal welfare with accusations that those who give such attention to animals, ignore the suffering of children: just don't...!

This incident reflects inhumanity at its worse and has nothing to do with whether those of us deeply distressed, simultaneously care about child welfare. Please ignore, if you don't like animals. Those of us who do, can not help but feel extremely emotional about this case)

2. I Am Nauseous After Reading That Article
There is a place reserved in the lowest pits of hell for anyone who would do such a thing. This guy is a psychopath; it's good he's off the streets.

4. I can assure you, there are many many here feeling the same....
It always makes me uncomfortable to know how near the surface my emotions are... I certainly can't claim to hold no violent impulses; I know it would take every bit of restraint in my being to avoid acting on them, if I were to witness someone doing something that depraved.

Hug your dear ones (four and two-legged) tonight!

5. These are the cases I agree totally with Animal Rights people about.
This person deserves to be punished very harshly. If you can heartlessly do this to a puppy, I have no doubt you'd have no problem doing it to a human. This is a disturbed and dangerous individual. Give him 20 years hard time.

8. Between my tears and my fury ...
I've never been happier. To hear that one of the sickest, most twisted, psychotic, wasted bags of flesh ever conceived has been caught and is off the streets is truly good news. Yet I can't stop crying ... I just don't understand what's wrong with people like this. I can't imagine what those poor little babies went through and how scared and hurt they must've felt.

I am not a violent person usually, but I really, really, really wish that, in the name of justice, we could do to this soulless cretin exactly what he did to those puppies. I have absolutely no doubt that extracting justice in this way now would save a number of families unspoken grief in the future, for surely, the demon-spawn that the police currently hold in their custody is a future serial killer. What a sick SOB. *sigh*

Well, in any case, thank you, hlthe2b, for the news. Even though I sincerely doubt that the punishment meted out to this scumbag will come even remotely close to fitting his crime, I hope that the authorities are somehow able to provide the psychological help that is so obviously necessary here.
