I just saw the stupidest commercial disclaimer I have ever seen.
It was for metamucil and there were tourists at Old Faithful. They people ask how it stays so regular. Cut to the ranger giving the geyser metamucil. Now, this comercial is bad enough, but they give the disclaimer: "Do not do this, abide by park rules." Man, is that funny.

Has anyone else seen this commercial? If not, what are some of your favorite commercial disclaimers?

1. That commercial is so dumb...
It seems to imply that if you take Metamucil you will erupt!

2. Disclamers are sad.

If commercials don't have them, then people can sue for some fucked up reason. Remember that McDonald's lawsuit a few years back with the old woman and hot coffee?? Sad, huh?

Why do we have to put disclaimers on commen sense stuff these days???

4. Yeah. That's what I'm guessing.
And you know what's sad...judges usually rule in favor of the common senseless.

7. "Common sense" doesn't exist.
"Common" would imply that either "sense" was an abundant trait (it is not), or it was something that the people in general have (it isn't that, either). Hence, the need for stupid disclaimers on commercials, instructions on the back of toothpick boxes, and stuff like that.

18. Not to start this up again
But, once more, the McDonald's coffee case was a very valid thing.

5. You will erupt and
clorox could do a follow-through: If you erupt use clorox to clean the toilet and the walls.

9. Originally, they didn't have the disclaimer...
but the NPS asked them to do so because they didn't want park visitors to think it was ok to pour any substance into Old Faithful.

I don't blame NPS...the world is full of crazies.

15. I don't think so...but distance didn't keep Prescott Bush from
traveling from Yale to the midwest to steal Geronimo's skull, or so the rumor goes. Who knows whether that is true or not.

I'm not a Skull and Bones tinfoil hatter like so many conspiracy theorists at DU are. :-)

19. At least one geyser in Yellowstone
Has been ruined by people throwing crap into it. It no longer erupts because it is clogged up. That's why NPS was so upset about the commercial. I'm sure it never occured to the people making the commercial that anyone would be so stupid as to throw trash into a geyser in a National Park, but they underestimate the American public. Or overestimate, as the case may be.

20. I saw a cereal commercial the other day
that cited some study about cholesterol or something, and then at the bottom of the screen it said the study did not include cereals.
