I am a total hermit this winter, trying to finish my dissertation. It is about 2/3 done! :o

I'll be graduating in the spring, so i'm also submitting job apps right and left, which is very disheartening, because (a) there are very few jobs, and (b) i've applied for a few that have since disappeared due to budget cuts. :(

But all the complaining aside, life is good! :D

I started off at DU as "populistmom" and then changed my name before the original '04 amnesty to SarahBelle (which was a childhood nickname thing that I'm sick of having). So I'm dropping the "belle". Either SarahB or maybe Sarah72 or something. Not totally sure yet, but plain Sarah is taken, so I've got to work it into something else. I think people know me as much by my avatar anyway, so I'm sure anyone who knows me will recognize me.

I'm going to change my username -it's not particularly original and I wanted to change it during the last amnesty but I was a moderator then so I had difficulty doing so. I haven't decided my username yet but it will definitely include Obama's name and will also likely incorporate either Robert F Kennedy's or Paul Wellstone's name as well

i'm in the middle of a career change, which i think is making my hunt a little harder. i was a newspaper reporter but i got the ax during a round of cuts and decided it's just not my bag. i'm looking for something, maybe in the nonprofit area, where i can apply my writing/communication skills. i did, however, recently get a contract gig writing artist bios for a friend's event planning/promotion company. i'm hoping that, as the company gets bigger, it will mean more work for me.

Like a lot of other people, I came up with my name out of anger towards GWB (he spoke scornfully about "those Massachusetts liberals," and I grew up as a proud Mass. Dem -- grrr!).
