I'm quite suprised they would actually go there when they have gay marriages in NY, SF, New Mexico and now Oregon popping up, but apparentely they're pissed at some deal in Huntington, WV.

so what to do with them? My suggestion was print out a bunch of gay porn off the internet, and then make a huge billboard collage of it. Then put it up in a counterprotest.

Just one thing to hope for, maybe if more and more places start recognizing gay marriages it'll give old Fred a heart attack.

2. They were in my college town a couple of months ago...

They fucked up by dragging an American flag around in the gutter and saying God hates America.

The conservatives who usually wouldn't have joined us libbies who were protesting them did join us because of the flag thing. We had two marines on our side that we had to restrain. One tried to jump the barrier. IF he would have gotten ahold of Phelps, he would have killed him.

Also, you will notice that Phelps group will have LOTS of children holding very hateful signs. It is so sad to see those children being raised in such hatred. I can't see why it isn't child abuse and why the Phelps adults aren't arrested for that.

Just my two cents on what to expect. NO LOCAL FOLKS appreciated Phelps' visit...all protesters were local folks of all walks of life.

Phelps actually caused unity in our community. :-)

imagine this ad: words flash on the screen "which is more of a problem?" then a Phelps protest with the caption "this?" and then a same sex marriage with the caption "this?"

show everyone how same sex marriages are no big deal and the hateful wingnuts are the problem.

Good luck to you all. I am with dookus. You can't argue with idiots, so ridicule him instead.

Ask the kids who their parents are. Ask them why they aren't in school. Make signs that say "God hates bigots" Or "Somewhere in Kansas, a village is missing its idiot."

We had signs that said, "Honk if you think Phelps is a moron." The roadway was full of cars honking and waving at us.

We just propped our signs up at the barrier, and we had a refreshment table on the grounds behind the barrier...lots of people stopped, walked up and visited out of curiosity...you can attract more flies with sugar than with vinegar...we made a favorable impression on lots of people--especially considering that the stark contrast of Phelps was across the street from us.

Solicit contributions from Phelps opponents. Make sure Phelps knows what you are doing.

The contribution should be $x per minute that Phelps is demonstrating. The longer Phelps stays, the more money gets contributed to the charity that supports gays.
