'What I look for when Obama is president'
Obama has already said the 21 or 22 he will make it legal to have an abortion any time a woman may want it and up to an including actually giving birth.

The next thing he has said he will do is gay rights, and from what I understand that means marriage between men and men, and woman and woman. This will be nation wide and the states can do nothing about it.

He is going to do this by exective order from what I understand.

If he follows through on these and I think he will, I look for major events to happen in the United States very soon afterwards. Possibly the same day.

They could include earthquakes, in the great range, like high 8's or low 9's and could be even a middle to high nine. We could also expect to see weather related events, record cold nation wide, record snow or rain and floods, also volcanos. First thought Yellestone, but there are other places too. It is my prayer that these events don't happen, but I expect our GOD to let the United States know how he feels about these two so called rights and make a statement loud and clear. Also, HE could hold these events and strike Obama, or his family with sickness, accident or something clearly from GOD.

5. Wait until they find out
that Obama's also going to:
1) name Jeremiah Wright to the new post of Spiritual Leader;
2) that all the children will be taken from their parents and brought to the William Ayers Camp for Re-Education, Enforced Atheism, learning to hate Whitey, and Molotov Cocktail making;
3) Vans will be going house to house around the nation and forcing people to turn over their bibles for burning and their guns to be shipped to Iran's Republican Guard;
4) Osama bin Laden will be given the keys to the White House;
5) Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto will be distributed by the Sec. of Treasury to all Americans.
6) All Border Guards on our southern border will be moved to guard our northern border, so we can have an unending stream of brown people coming up from Mexico.

What else?

9. Sickness, accidents clearly from GOD?
So ... why didn't they all die on flight 911 that landed in the Hudson River? Was it an exective order? How many people, who believe in progress, democracy and civil rights were on board? Why did they survive?

Because it was a miracle!

10. Are these people even living on the same planet?
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 06:05 PM by alarimer
Are they aliens or simply mentally ill?

There have been a number of threads recently with this theme. Right-wingers completely off their rockers about Obama's alleged plans. I guess the socialist terrorist muslim is getting to them.

I listened to This American Life earlier today from this weekend. They were talking to a bunch of people about the inauguration. One guy was utterly convinced that Obama was going to bring back big government. Huh? Bush presided over the largest expansion of the government in years. Whatever. And then this guy was complaining about all the "scandal" Obama has had to deal with, including Richardson's (which as far as I can tell Obama has nothing to do with). There is some kind of disconnect in conservative minds that makes them believe things that are not true. Watching too much Fox News will do that I guess.

"Eventually, it is clear that liberals, left unchecked, will allow it to become another a sodom and gomorrah. In my mind, that's what I keep seeing in front of me almost continuously."

15. Best part? The Bible doesn't support their views
No mention of "skinny dude from the city of great wind"...

In describing Jesus’ return, Paul combines imagery drawn from two sources. From biblical apocalyptic (e.g., Daniel 7:13), he gets the coming on the clouds of heaven with the angelic trumpets. From his Greco-Roman experience, he gets the imagery of an arrival of a king on a state visit (in Greek, parousia); a joyful multitude goes out to meet him on the road and accompany him back to the city.

The dead will rise first and then we, the living, will be “snatched” up to join them in the air. Many pagan epitaphs of the time spoke of the living “being snatched” away by death. Here Paul speaks of our “being snatched” up to join the Lord and to welcome him at his return.

In the ancient world, the “air” was a scary place filled with unseen beings, many of them hostile. Together with Christ, there will be nothing to fear. Paul means this as a message of comfort and consolation for the Thessalonians. Christians do grieve the loss of their loved ones, but they should not do so “as others do who have no hope.”

The whole religious right notion of The Rapture isn't rooted in Scripture but in the writings of a 19th century English crank:

The Rapture seems to have been invented by a British religious figure named John Nelson Darby (1800-1882). He was ordained in the Church of Ireland and worked there to convert Catholics away from their folly. He was extremely pessimistic about what he saw as the state of the world and the state of the Church. He eventually left it, joining a dissident group called the Plymouth Brethren of which he soon became a prominent leader.

About 1830, he began teaching that Jesus’ coming at the end of time would be preceded by a “rapture of the saints.” Some members of his own Brethren community objected that this was not biblically founded, but Darby dismissed any criticism. It had, he claimed, been revealed to him by God.
