Do people on cell phones think no one can hear them????
I have been seeing/hearing it more & more lately. Someone in a restaurant, store or on the bus talking loudly on their cell phone. They will talk about very personal stuff as if no one can hear them. I just don't get it.

1. What is it with talking loudly?!
Jeeez...talk in a normal voice, and move away from people if possible. If you HAVE to have a personal conversation, try to call back when you aren't surrounded by strangers.

2. No s**t--the other day I heard more than I ever wanted to
about a stranger's abortion. I wasn't trying, neither was the grocery checker, but we both got an earful.

Yech.

Some friend, huh?

3. Next time
notice what the first thing a person says when they answer their cell phone. It's almost always telling the person on the line where they are. " Hello, at the mall" "Hello, at the store" "Hello, at the gym"

4. They don't care.
That's the only conclusion I can reach. At our fitness center, a woman was having a very detailed, personal conversation in a very loud tone with about five people in close proximity. She spent half an hour on the treadmill, talking the entire time.

The hilarious thing was that, for part of the time, she was complaining that her boss chastised her for being too loud. The people around her were about ready to back the boss!

6. 20 years ago if you were talking at full voice in public places..
..with no else was around, people might think you were mentally unbalanced.

Now it just means you're probably wearing a hands-free setup.

The first time I saw someone do this was at the Denver airport about five years ago. It took all the restraint I had not to go up to the guy and say politely:

"Are you aware that you look like a F***KING NUT???????"

(N.B. No offense to nuts here. I are one myself.)

7. That is why I started this thread.
I stopped at the grocery store this morning (out of dog food) and there was this women who I thought was talking & laughing to herself. I then realized that she was on a hands-free cell phone. She was talking and laughing so loud everyone was staring at her and she was oblivious.
