minor work related rant...

so a while back we had these over sized presentation type boards made. They are 8' X 3 1/2'. They are large photos of "jobs" that we have completed.

Well, the design department maybe great at designing things but really crappy at actually figuring out how to hang this monstrosities.

So I stood back and let these idiot hang them. Because they couldn't let a lowly facilities manager tell them that they were wrong when, they used ordinary picture hanging hooks to hang something that is mounted on gator board of that size.

So sure enough, these morons put up these gigantic things and even before they settled on the walls, the weight of them ripped the "hooks" out of the wall. Yes, I was smug. :)

When they ripped the hooks out of the walls, they also damaged the walls themselves.

So in complete infantile frustration, they told me to store them.

That was 4 years ago. And many of the moron designers that were involved have now moved on (thank god)

So I waltz up to our new Marketing/Design manager and inquire as to whether or not I should give them the heave ho.

Side note, the initial mounting job of the photos on the gator board was of such poor quality, that all of them "bowed", making them effectively useless for presentation purposes.

Here is her answer, "let me check with so and so, those things were expensive".

So let me get this straight, the time by which one holds onto something is directly proportional to it's expense.

The larger more expensive something is, means I have to hold onto these pieces of space taking crap virtually forever to justify their expense?

I know, I know, it makes no fucking sense at all.

I just needed to get that off my chest.
