Worst ever final episode?
I'd say ALF's. After all that time, we didn't even see what happened to ALF. It was way too abrupt.

5. I know I'm in the minority but I thought it was perfect...
The whole show was predicated on this group of totally narcissistic people. And the series end highlighted that. I thought it was perfect.

7. I agree
I hated that show with a passion. It was like they made that episode just for me.

21. There Was Another Perfect Aspect To It
The show was always talked about as a "show about nothing". At the end, they went to prison for what? DOING NOTHING! That's pretty symmetrical!

25. if you ever saw the pilot episode
In July 1989, NBC aired the pilot for the show then called "The Seinfeld Chronicles", and the scene where they are sitting in the diner (sans Elaine, who had not been created yet) was mimiced in the jail cell at the end of the finale, right down to the dialogue.

I think the finale was okay, it just suffered from high expectations, and that always makes things seem worse than they are.

3. Twin Peaks
Not because it was bad, but because it ended with a hell of a lot of cliffhangers and unresolved plots.

10. I COMPLETELY disagree on Twin Peaks
As my boss said, that was David Lynch saying "Fuck you for cancelling my show...". An absolutely amazing surreal ending that was the most intense coupla hours of the last 15 years...

11. I don't think the Network cared what the content was
but he screwed the fans by leaving several cliffhangers in there. Parts of it were brilliant, just not enough to save me from feeling frustrated each time I see it.

6. For me, it's a toss-up between........
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Star Trek: Voyager.

Buffy's finale left too many plot threads dangling questions unanswered.

Voyager's finale was just boring.

I have to agree on Buffy...
Even though it pains me to say so. I loved Buffy!
The final episode just left me with a feeling of want.
I was very disappointed in it.

14. Yes. MASH absolutely sucked after McLean Stevenson left
And Trapper John.

I think all of the later tapes should be destroyed.

12. Xfiles final ep culmination of terrible final 2 years
When Duchovny left the show, tho I never thought he was the best thing about the show, they should have ended it. The show was always Mulder and Scully, definitely a case where they did not go out on a high.

18. I thought it was horribly appropriate
After I saw it, I was mad, because I expected something better. But then I started thinking about it and came to the realization that it was the only conclusion I would have been satisfied with. The idea was not to make some abstract finalé that brought back characters to a half baked storyline. The idea was that Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer get their comeuppance. For nearly a decade, Seinfeld, David, and the writers had put their characters into situations in which they always seemed to make the wrong decision and not learn from their mistakes. If you encountered those people in real life, you would think them awful people, which they were. The final episode allowed all of the poor characters who had somehow been fucked over by the four self-centered jackasses to pass judgment on them. Think of it like a Final Judgment for a sitcom. In the end, despite their protests, their past catches up with them, and they are punished.

It worked from a philosophical level. It just lacked sitcom cohesion.

15. "Mad About You"
That was awful.

"Voyager" didn't crystalize either.

I didn't mind the "St. Elsewhere" ending because working in medicine is at time a very surrealistic business.

"Murphy Brown"

Actually I don't watch much television. I can't think of any other television series I didn't just quit watching long before they ended, except for M.A.S.H, which for various reasons doesn't qualify for this list.

17. I thought "Mad About You" had a great final episode.
Resolved lots of story lines, put the characters in a context where they can continue on with life.

I thought "MASH", "St. Elsewhere". and "Seinfeld" had awful final episodes.

20. gotta vote for Seinfeld
never seen a show stray so far from it's successful formula to give such a crappy ending. Maybe they didn't stray from their formula but for sme reason it didn't work

22. The Brady Bunch
It was not a finale. It was that dumb episode when Greg bought that hair tonic that turned his hair orange.

Also, Archie Bunker's Place was not given a chance to have a finale. That show, combined with All in the Family, was on the air for 12 years, and they deserved a dignified finale.

26. Yes, I remember that Brady Bunch show
It was dumb. I can't really think of a finale for it - the later movies were somewhat poor substitutes.
