I just pissed off two young magazine salesmen
They came to the door and I refused to open it. I spoke to them and told them that I do not answer the door for sales and solicitation.

2. How did you know they were pissed off?

Did they yell at you or something. If that happens, call the cops and tell them you were threatened by these "salesmen." They probably don't have the proper permits anyhow. Many times, such visitors are checking to see if anyone's home. If not, their buddies down the street burglarize your house. Pretty common.

3. They did not yell, but they would not go away the first 3 times I told them
that I was not going to open the door.

9. Real salesmen would have been on their way when you made your intentions clear.
Hmm.

1) You were actually their only/best prospect in the area.
2) They were supremely confident in their ability to turn a resounding no into a yes.
3) They wanted your door open for other, even less savory reasons.

I don't want to alarm you...but maybe you'd already ruled out the third option?

11. The third option was what made me keep the door closed.
Not alarmed at all. As a woman, I am always vigilant about my safety.

4. Last time that happened to me, I answered the door with my robe wide open.
They never returned.

5. I usually rub my eyes and tell them they woke me up, then glare.
Shortens their interest.

7. I had two young magazine salesmen come to my door last week.
They saw my Obama bumper stickers and said that at least I voted the right way. Then when they tried to sell me magazines, I told them I worked for a magazine publisher (which is true) and I get all the magazines I want for free.

8. My husband got scammed by one once
He wrote a check to the salesman and the salesman somehow changed the check's amount.

10. I was at a friend's house when one showed up...
A kid with a McCain/Palin shirt, no less... My fried made his teenage son answer the door, and before the would-be salesman could get his pitch out, the kid said (recalled as best as I can remember it) "I'm sorry- I can't read, so a magazine would be useless to me. When Bush said 'No Child Left Behind,' he meant no RICH child left behind."
