You drive on "ROOT" 66.

You plan a "ROWT" to get to your destination.

12. First you have to find out what everyone's pet peeve is regarding said pronunciation.
Then make sure you pronounce it in such a way as to annoy the maximum number of people within earshot. :P

21. I actually e-mailed the traffic people at XM about this once. (Philadelphia area)
One of the guys kept saying "Blue rOWt" instead of "Blue root." I've lived in this area all my life, and I've never heard it once pronounced at "rOWt."

On a side note, a friend of mine who originally lived in San Diego was telling me that when old friends of his are in the area, they can't stop adding the word "the" before any route's number, which seems to be a west coast thing. 113 became "The 113," 202 became "The 202." You get the idea.

24. Rowt. It saves those bandwidth channeling devices from being called "rooters" instead of rowters.
"Rooters" sounds like people at a football game.
