1. ask a beer drinker
also it might be made with sugar as opposed to corn syrup

2. those bottles are just so cute! I also think it's the nostalgia from the old
days. I don't really like Coke that much, but I love those little bottles. The same goes for Rolling Rock pony bottles, well, before RR was sold, anyway.

3. Check the bottle. Around here it's because it's Mexican Coke made with cane sugar. n/t

When I was a kid though I always liked drinking soda from a bottle better than from a can.

4. Maybe it's Mexican Coke
in which case it's made with cane sugar and not HFCS (high-fructose corn syrup)

Dublin Dr Pepper is made with real sugar :D

5. Any drink tastes better from a glass or bottle,
Edited on Fri Jan-23-09 11:26 AM by redqueen
because glass is chemically inert... it won't leach into the liquid and affect the flavor.

7. it really does
It's only 6.5 oz so by the time you finish it you are still thinking how good it is. I guess the small bottles leave you wanting, but not needing, more. Plus those bottles feel really good in your hand, don't they?

8. I think the Coke in the glass bottles is sweetened with cane sugar
when the rest is sweetened with high fructose corn syrup

9. No, only the Cokes from Mexico. CC also bottles the HFCS coke in little nostalgia bottles.
And it does taste better in the little bottles.

10. I've wondered that, too, and have a couple of theories.
First is the fact that glass is inert so there is no chemical change. But I also think it's because glass doesn't allow expansion, so the carbonation doesn't diffuse, and also allows less oxidation to corrupt the flavor. Finally, since it is such a small amount, you consume it before it has a chance to start changing. If you open a two litter bottle and then drink it a day later, it doesn't have the same flavor. The smaller the bottle, the less time it has to lose taste.

Cokes and other soft drinks also taste better out of the can than out of plastic bottles, and I think it's for the same reasons.

13. when canned first came out, I did not like to drink the canned ones at all. Then
after the plastic started, I decided canned was better than plastic. The glass bottles are superior though. I like your answer to the small vs large bottle mystery though. Makes sense.

11. I agree. And it tastes even better if it is from Mexico and is made with sugar rather
than high fructose corn syrop.

12. OK it does. Esp if it is Mexican Coke. However, when King Size Coke first came
out, we all said it tasted better in the little bottles. This was before there was HFCS. I love those little bottles, and I am old enough to remember when those were a dime in a vending machine, too. Those cool water chilled ones.

We also thought Coke tasted better according to the plant it came from. The Bowling Green KY plant had much better tasting Cokes than the Clarksville TN one. Russellville and Elizabethtown were OK but Bowling Green's were the best. My dad said it was the water. Bowling Green has a lot of limestone in the water as it sits on top of a couple of pretty good sized cave systems.

15. Because glass imparts no flavors of its own.
So things in glass taste like themselves, not like trace bits of whatever they're packaged in.

17. The little glass bottles taste even better when pulled out of a tub of ice
rather than a refrigerator. Back in the old days soda used to be sold that way. You'd open the top of the ice chest, pull a bottle out of the ice, and yank off the metal cap in the built-in opener.

18. I used to always wear an onion on my belt, as was the style at the time.
'Course, it was a yellow onion, because we couldn't get the white ones on account of the war.
