1. The new Scirocco is a beautiful car.
Too bad we won't likely get it in America.

and test drove two.

8. If I can find a (gently) used R32, I'll snatch it up....
but I'm not going to hold my breath on that.

11. Might not be that tough to find.
The R32 numbers 5,000 for the year. Same as my Mazdaspeed3. I picked mine up with under 7k miles, for $6k off the original sticker. It's all right-place right-time.

2. And that cc for all of it's size is only a 4 seater.
i test drove the sport with the manual transmission, it needs more horsepower.

4. The one in the pic is a VR6 Sport, with the 280 hp.....
I'm sure the 200 hp on that car (I'm guessing it's kind of heavy) would be a bit sluggish for what it's trying to compete with.

7. That sucks....
VW used to offer EVERYTHING with a stick...

I had a '99 Passat GLX with the auto (at the insistence of my then wife). I have to admit that it was the best-shifting automatic tranny I'd driven (at the time), and the tiptronic function was a passable compromise.

13. If I had the money, I'd search out a Beetle RSi and have it shipped here...
I would have bought one of those puppies in a heartbeat!

15. The 2008's are all automatic, sadly enough....
You'd have to go back to the 2004 R32 to get a 6-speed manual...

16. Are you serious?
280 horsepower and all wheel drive and they make it auto only? That's a let down.

18. Yeah... It's a bummer.
As I said upthread, money being no object- I'd find me a Beetle RSi and have it shipped here. The professional racers who drove them in the Beetle Cup series were raving about them.
