Not dead yet - just without stomach lining

According to the doc, my stomach lining has been worn down by too many Advils, Ales and Asprin. Oh and the coffee doesn't help.

And I have acid reflux

1. well thats fixable.

you will have to give up certain things but in the end you will feel better.

2. I'm sure your doctor told you, this, too....

but just in case:

- Elevate your pillow at night

- Avoid foods that cause the symptoms (spicy, fatty, tomato/citrus juices, chocolate, alcohol)

- Do not lie down for at least 2 hours after eating at night

- Stop smoking

- Limit coffee

- Avoid tight clothing

- Use antacids

- East smaller meals

- Lose weight

I realize these things are easier said than done!

6. nexium?

The little purple pill changed my life. About five years ago, it got to where I would wake up with horrible heart burn around 3 or 4 in the morning. The only way to handle it was to take two Alka Seltzer Heartburn Relief tablets, which wasn't a good idea since I have high blood pressure and the two tablets have about 50% of your daily sodium. This was happening several times a week, and of course once you get up and do that your restful night of sleep is over and you feel like crap the next day. The attacks didn't seem to be tied to what I ate or how much alcohol I had. Since I started taking the Nexium I have not had one single case of heartburn.
The doctor asked me once if I wanted to keep taking it, and I told him if not he was going to see me on the nightly news holding up a pharmacy: "What do you want? Demerol, morphine?" "No, give me the little purple pill!"

9. I reached my limit of ibuprofen a few years ago.

It really kept my knees and hips from complaining too much.

But then it wiped out my stomach.

Even when I stopped taking it for a year, the stomach problems came right back when I tried taking it again.

I learned my stomach can complain a hell of a lot more than my knees and hips can when it wants to.

My knees will do the occasional stabbed by a knife gotcha! and even knock me to the floor doing it, but my stomach can achieve that same level of pain for hours at a time if I take ibuprofen.
