Anybody else get into a video game that is ass-kickingly hard but couldn't stop playing it?

I'm currently struggling to get through Mega Man 9 for the Wii. This game is crazy difficult. Sadistically difficult. I feel like the game is personally punching me in the face again and again, yet I keep trying because I want to WIN.
Gah. Anybody else in the same boat?

1. The first Zelda game for the nes

I could never beat that motherfucker. Also, I'll never beat Knights of Cydonia on expert in GH3.

2. Oh dear lord the original Zelda was tough.

I never beat it either.

3. I always assumed that I never beat it because I never had my own Nintendo

so I just never got a chance to sit and play long enough. Its nice to know that others had trouble with it too. :P

4. Halo 3

There's a room that's fulla brutes and they are relentless. They take cover and eventually try to bum rush your position while other brutes keep up suppressing fire so that you don't see them coming till they're on top of your position.

I died so many times that many a night my wife slept alone while I tried every dirty trick in the book to get past that room.
