WATER!!!11!11
Finally - running water after 2 days! Mind you I can do without - IF I'm prepared but this was one of those times where it was unexpected and everything and everybody was dirty, shitty, and just YUCK!

Thought we had it fixed last night but some asshole (border patrol, I am 99% sure) drove over an exposed section and broke it. Fuckers on private property driving on closed roads OK it is here, calm down and wash your hands again! weee! simple pleasures! warm water and soap!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:  :headbang: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :applause: :patriot:

1. Congratulations!
Our fridge went out in the early part of last summer. It took 3 months of the repairman trying to find a leak before Lowe's heard about it and replaced it within 2 days of hearing about it. Simple things like running water and a way to keep food from spoiling can make a BIG difference.

I'm glad you got your water back. Welcome back to civilization*. :hi:

*Or at least that's how it felt when we got the new fridge.

2. thanks!
I can get dirty and often do, but man I need clean hands a couple times a day at least - and preparing food - eeecchhh don't want to think about it.

Remind me when I am spouting off about duct tape and baling wire being the greatest inventions - fucking running hot water is above them! Man we take stuff for granted.

Fridge, the same - you can make it without one, but losing one when you aren't perpared? arrggg (been there, oh yes)

3. Celebrating with you, Kali!
Right now, i have limited water available in my house... i have a couple of pipes broken, and my father-in-law can't get here until Tuesday to work on them. So... i have cold water for the toilet, bathtub, and washing machine - but no 'hot' at all. And no water in the kitchen at all. So, this has been me for the last week with my 3 gallon bucket -- carrying water back and forth to warm it on the stove for baths and dish-washing.

We also had the fridge die a little over a week ago, and have been living out of the coolers until the new one is delivered and installed later this week.

I

HATE

WINTER

5. well, having some for the toilet sure helps, believe me!
(we are 5 at the moment, with only one working anyway) You adapt, but it sure makes you appreciate the PURE LUXURY OF HOT RUNNING WATER!!!

Good luck with yours! (winter is OK for broken fridges/freezers though :P )

4. OMG I know the feeling well.
When I was a kid our well went dry and we went over 3 months without running water. Had to buy it, strategic toilet flushing (and bathing), freaking out over watering the livestock, the whole ball of wax.

We brought out dowsers, engineers, everyone we could think of to help us find water. We thought we were going to lose everything. I came home from school the day the well drillers finally hit water and mom and grandma were bawling their eyes out.

We had water. OMG, we had water.

6. OMG 3 months and livestock to deal with too? crap.
That is my worst nightmare. I've gone long times without it in the house (not 3 whole months though), and camping of course - and if this would have been a well problem I thought was going to take longer, I would have went and got a couple barrels at the neighbors or something - plus buying drinking water, but this was just a broken pipe - should be fixed and up and running in a couple of hours, right? (Have I mentioned that PVC pipe is another great accomplishment of mankind?) Nope, sometime between the fix and the time the water should have been here to the house some nimnolt ran over another spot. After dark of course. This is all compounded by the fact that the well is 6 miles away and most of the problems happen down there. The drive-by was up closer where we never look because the pressure is so much lower and NOBODY EVER DRIVES THAT WAY.

But losing water for livestock. Don't like to think of that one. June is always ulcer month for me. Ponds are dry, it's hot, it's not going to rain for at least another month, maybe two.:scared: :scared: :scared:
