Favorite beer?

My most recent discovery was Primo Island Lager (made in Hawaii). :9
Best beer I've had since Germany.



Wish I had some right now. Instead, a Paulander will have to do.

1. I don't really have one favorate per se

but the one I had most recently that made me say, "Holy crap, can I buy a twelve pack of this kind, or do I have to keep buying the mix sets and just get two at a time?" was one I found in the Sam Adams winter variety pack: Sam Adams Cream Stout.

Has the oomph and hoppiness that I like, but with a very nice flavor of a few different kinds of malt to balance that out.

2. I like beer with a low alcohol content

Which is ironic for someone who drinks hard liquor the way I do. :crazy:

3. I like mine to have some ooomph, because I started as a wine drinker before I diversified.

Now I'm a fan of a nice aged scotch, or a good strong beer. Still like the wine, obviously, but its not something I drink as often anymore.

I prefer Murphy's to Guinness. Some of the Porters here in Texas are quite nice, but some are complete crap. Some other states like Colorado are starting to get into the porter business as well.

for a long time you could not buy it in Georgia. I first got stuck on it in Butler, PA and then I saw it in Pensacola, FL, but had not been able to get it in Georgia till VERY recently......

....however, looking at their website, it doesn't seem like they take any care to insure that their beer is actually "real ale". Here in England it's a big deal! There are different organizations dedicated to preserving real ale in the UK; they give out certification to pubs that serve real ale, have awards for breweries, pubs, beers, etc.

A lot of has to do on the condition of the beer, how it's served, the environment.... ugh.... in general, I really love Flemish sour ales. I can't pick a favourite. The ommegong brewery in the US makes a good one which is sometimes better than the Belgian ones, because it's more local in the US..... man.... how to choose? Can't.

My source stopped selling it. So I was trying different brews. Unfortunately, the closest I came to was Quilmes Stout, sold in Argentina. Then my source carried it again. So I stocked up. Though they haven't restocked yet. I'm good for about six months, drinking one a week (average for me).
