Where do you go for inspiration when you are out of it?
I really do need some. I got laid off in October and haven't found anything to replace my job yet. I'm really just simply out of ideas and no where to find any about what to do next.

And at this point, I'm finding little inspiration. I'm glad for the election of course, but that is over. We have a new, sane president. I can stop thinking about it so obsessively as I had been these last years.

What do you use to inspire you when you feel drained? Maybe I can learn something.

1. Ok, I'll tell you some of the things that have worked for me in difficult times:
Long walks on the beach, music, taking night courses, volunteering, trips (even when I didn't have a dime I found a way to go somewhere!), taking pics, writing, cleaning (I know, that sounds really weird, but it made me feel better).

I've been listening carefully to advice being given to those who are looking for work (because it can happen to just about anybody in today's environment) and they talk a lot about networking... and practicing interviewing skills (like the 90 second "elevator interview").

Hopefully, one or some of these ideas might spark a memory of something that could help.

Keep your chin up!

Do what works for you!

2. I recommend the New River State Park
I do some of my best thinking up there and it helped me a lot the last time I was looking for work.

If you're in the Triangle it's not that bad of a drive

3. A walk outside, a David Bowie or Brian Eno Album, 420 and maybe a cup of coffee

I used to smoke for inspiration - but I don't smoke anymore.

4. Some place in nature
the beach, the mountains, the woods, the lake, or some architecturally aesthetic place to visit,

quiet, meditation, friends, soft music, relaxing and stopping the mind from thinking... then the mind comes back with answers it couldn't see before.

:hi:

hang in there supernova the gorgeous, smart writer, you will find something that surprises you.

It's rough times right now... but you will prevail.

6. I agree with those who say nature
Nature reminds me that the world is a lot bigger than just me and that I'm only a small part of it. It's kind of humbling and encouraging at the same time. Nature also reminds me that no matter how badly we fuck up, nature has this way of righting itself which gives me hope that I might right myself too.

I hope things get better for you.
