For all the DU guys...we luv ya so read up
One of my close male friends noticed something odd with one of his testicles and has scheduled a doctor's appointment for later in the week. That got me to thinking about all the men in my life and you guys on DU and I thought I'd pass this along. Women get told constantly about the importance of regular self breast exams but we don't see nearly the push to get you guys to check yourselves out "down there" and make sure everything is ok. And you are NEVER NEVER too young to start with this. We love you guys and want to keep you around. :loveya:

Have some links - they'll show you what to do...or you can ask your doctor about it

1. Velma, Velma, Velma................
Thanks for your concern. But nobody, and I mean nobody, needs to encourage us guys to inspect ourselves. Personally, it's been one big, long inspection since I was about 11.

:D

4. Well, I kinda wanta keep you guys around
And hearing it from a friend in his 30s last night scared the hell outta me. It's probably nothing. He's probably fine. But it still is scary until a doctor tells him that.

Plus I just wanted to confuse the hell outta everybody by having a discussion of male anatomy that didn't also involve paddles. :)

5. Thank you for the reminder Velma
you're absolutely right of course.

Please keep us posted on your friend. There's a very good chance that he's perfectly alright but its good that he's gone to make sure.

:hi:

7. My dear friend John
...lost one of his boys to testicular cancer. He's about my age. The radiation therapy was rough. Not sure if he had chemo as well. He's doing great now, though.

PERV!

All the sites I visited said not to do it TOO often or you'll go blind...er..or rather you'll miss changes that happen more gradually.

22. I'll piggyback
Get prostate exams late in life too. My uncle didn't like the exams (quite unpleasant), and he had been without one for four years when he found out he had terminal cancer. He then had 8 months to live. Got back from his funeral a couple of days ago...

I'm OK; the tough part was watching my dad give a eulogy at his big bro's funeral. Usually a very stoic guy...:(

27. My brother survived testicular cancer.
He was 43 when diagnosed. He caught it early. He's been cancer-free 7 years now.

Please get checked out/check yourself.
