I'm back from the hospital.
They wheeled me into the operating theater around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. I vaguely remember the room with its big lamp and a bunch of stainless steel shelves that looked like they could have been from a machine shop. I don't remember being anesthetized. Next thing I remember waking up in recover with a very dry mouth and a painful nose. They gave me two shots of morphine and two of demerol. It not until I had some Percocet orally that the pain went away. I had packing in my nose all that day and night. I did not sleep at all because of the packing and because it was warmer than my Grandpa's apartment. This morning the surgeon removed the packing. I have to go to his office on Thurs. to have the splints removed. It's gross and awkward because I can feel the splints, but it doesn't really hurt thanks to drugs. I have to take a pair of Rush Limbaughs every five or six hours. (Oxycodone, the generic for Percocet.)

I've had sinus and nasal problems all of my life and it is at a point where I am constantly sick in winter. I have the septum straightened, some bone spurs removed and the turbinates reduced.

5. Glad you are home.
Word to the wise - do not, under any circumstances, bump your nose for at least the next 3 weeks, it will hurt like the dickens. (I had a rhinoplasty to repair a broken nose and deviated septum in 1993).

9. You must be glad you had it done.
Now, all you have to do is recover from surgery and your nose will leave you alone! My brother had it done and he's very glad he did.

13. Now I look like Barbara Streisand.
No, actually, the only difference will be that it is straight, instead of slightly crooked.

Wait a minute, how would you recognize me anyway? Have we met somewhere? :shrug:

11. Good for you--had this done last spring.
Had a stuffy nose for about two months and now things are MUCH better! Still cannot smell worth a damn, though.

12. hooray for good analgesia
I hope you recover soon and that the outcome is better than you could have imagined. You're making me think that maybe it's finally time for me to get my own septum repaired. Keep us posted. :hi:

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Be careful with that stuff or you'll start hoping the Obama fails.
