Did I miss a "dinner" thread? What did you have?
We had hot Italian sausage grilled over mesquite, (did some onion slathered with olive oil too), homemade rolls, red sauce, mozzarella, and french fries. Healthy huh? Tasty though!

7. LIVER? You're a braver man than I, Gunga Din. When I was a kid, the rule was
we had to eat what was for dinner that night or go to bed hungry. When it was Liver Night, I was only too happy to have an empty stomach rather than to eat liver.

Just remembering the smell of liver makes me retch.

10. When I was a kid, my Dad would have to wait until Mom was out of the house
to cook liver, she hated the smell of it. Dad could cook up a storm, though. All the men in our family can cook.

It's all in the preparation. Like any decent food that can be ruined by not knowing how to cook it correctly, beef liver is way too easy to overcook and dry out, making it tough.

Puts lead in your pencil, boyo.

17. Yeah, cooking up all those toxins
takes skill. Not to disparage your father, but I have a number of physician friends, and only one of them eats liver.

I mean, JUST LOOK AT IT!

13. Liver and onions w/ mac and cheese. Loved the mac and cheese. Hated the liver and onions.
But we had to eat both and couldn't leave the table until our plates were clean. :puke: Those were some looong nights!


Every damn Wednesday night!

I would have gladly gone without the mac and cheese and went to bed hungry.

On the plus side, Friday night was taco night from our favorite take out mexican restaurant! :woohoo:


I never made my kids eat anything they hated!

4. Salsa Verde Focaccia Pizza
(I went out)

Spicy tomatillo sauce topped with roasted poblano peppers, pan-fried garlic and feta cheese (although I think they top all that with mozzarella since feta doesn't turn stringy when you bake it.)

5. wow that sounds interesting
normally I don't like "weird" pizza ingredients but that sounds kind of good. Never would have thought of tomatillos for pizza - but yeah! And feta - yeah!

9. I didn't try that one until last year
mostly because of the same reasons you give. It just sounded too weird.

I've been going to Star Pizza for, let me see... about 15 years. That item has been on the menu the whole time and I never considered it. But, I've had pretty much all of the other veggie items, so I thought I'd try it, as I liked all the ingredients. I was only afraid it might be too spicy, but it's really not. There's a good balance of spice and the poblanos are perfect.

If you know how to make pizza, maybe try it and see how it comes out. I have made pizza Sicilian style, which is using an oven as hot as you can get it, preheated for at least an hour and using a baking stone. At that temp (above 500F) the pizza only stays in the oven about 5 minutes, but it comes out oh so good! :9

I need to do that again; make pita pizzas, too :)

6. Rotisserie chicken, and REAL wild rice (the stuff from Minnesota, harvested by the
Indians in the canoes). Five bucks for a small box, and worth every cent.

Broiled pork chops, applesauce with cinnamon, and yams!

We're not much for huge evening meals...

But it was tasty and we enjoyed our dinner and our conversations!

12. Pizza.
We found a good pizza place called Bella Napoli but it's all the way over in the Bronx and they won't deliver to the downtown Yonkers waterfront so we have to go pick up...it's not that far, a 15 minute drive. A real pain in the ass though when you're drinking and watching the SAG.

16. Yes, I make it from scratch. I'm a vegetarian, so my pizza may not be everyone's cup of tea....
...With topings, I usually run it through the garden, sans onions...

I'm thinking the last time I made it from scratch I put portobello mushrooms on it with a basil/pine nut pesto. But it's been some years back ;)
