Should I ask for pay cut at work?
I just found out (via email) that my employer is not giving cost-of-living increases for the next year, except small one-time bonuses to people under a certain income level. I am a couple hundred dollars over the income cutoff. Should I ask for a pay cut of a few cent an hour so I can end up a few hundred dollars ahead?

Sigh. I'm glad to have a job, and I guess I should be glad they're warning us.

4. You should figure out the difference between your salary and the
cutoff salary + bonus (e.g. if the cutoff is 30k and the bonus is 1k, but you make 30.5k, the difference is $500). Then, ask for a reduced bonus of that much. If you don't get it, steal stuff until you're even...

6. I swear I always fall into parts of the tax brackets where this happens too
(if I made $5 less I'd pay $10 less in taxes sort of thing).

There was a Dilbert book called Build a Better Life by Stealing Office Supplies.
