Former Pres. Jimmy Carter to throw out first pitch at Petco Park
(03-04-2004) - Former President Jimmy Carter will throw out the first pitch at San Diego's new downtown ballpark April 8, it was reported Thursday.

Carter is a close friend of Padres owners John and Becky Moores, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.

The friendship of the two men has grown steadily since John Moores became a trustee on the board of the Carter Center at Emory University in Atlanta, the newspaper reported.

Jimmy Carter rules!! Last year my office had a box for the home opener. Hopefully I'll get to see Mr. Carter throw that pitch.
