STRANGE: a British horror series -- premeres tonight at 9 PM ET
On Showtime Beyond.

Here's what it's about:

STRANGE, a seven episode series, follows the adventures of defrocked priest and demon hunter John Strange. Strange receives a Medieval French text "Demonica Diablo" and shortly thereafter, Reverend Rutt, who was trying to translate the manuscript, is attacked and hospitalized. The priest, barely able to speak, tries to identify his attacker by spelling out the word Azal -- another word for devil -- in Scrabble letters. That night, the priest is found incinerated in his hospital bed. As Strange tries to get to the bottom of the mystery, Canon Black, a sinister church official who deeply disapproves of demon hunting, has Rutt's research destroyed and his body removed from the hospital before investigators arrive. Strange enlists the help of hospital nurse Jude Atkins, who though skeptical of Strange's belief that demons walk the Earth in human form, agrees to help him find the demon and unmask it before it can kill again. The series is directed by Joe Ahearne and written by Andrew Marshall. Richard Coyle ("Coupling," "Othello") stars as John Strange; Ian Richardson ("Murder Rooms," "102 Dalmations") plays Canon Black; Samantha Janus ("Babes in the Wood," "The Baby Juice Express") is Jude Atkins and Peter Copley ("Wives and Daughters," "Far from the Maddening Crowd") plays Reverend Rutt. The series is produced by Marcus Mortimer.

It being a Showtime channel, of course it will be repeated several times.

3. I think Tom Baker plays a dissolute priest in one episode.
My brother recommends it.

8. It's produced by the BBC.
That means any network on this side of the Pond will have to chop it up to make room for commercials.

11. I taped it earlier
and just finished watching it. It's rather eerie and I had to admit--I enjoyed it. But I saw the *second* episode...not the first. I was confused by your post, because the first episode was never shown in my area.

:(

12. Sorry about the confusion
I'm rarely wrong when it comes to TV shows that are horror/sf/fantasy, but this time I screwed up. I swear I had read about it starting in March just a couple of weeks ago. I guess the primary season screwed with my sense of time.
