Occulus Repairo didn't work
Busted my glasses this morning. Lenses are ok, but the nose piece broke off.

Where's Hermoine when you need her?

I have a bit of electrical tape on it to cushion that side. tried 'super glue", but can't get a large enough flat surface to make a strong enough connection.

Glasses are over 6 years old, but I haven't had the money to get an eye exam and new glasses. I have tri-focals and a "refracting prism" to correct a "shift" in one eye. Expensive - about $200 per lens, add in a cheap frame and it's still close to $500

No, don't have insurance for eye care - the policies that I can afford do not cover my prescription needs, so they are useless to me.

The last time I broke these glasses, the stem snapped off. I went to several eye care places to see if they could either replace the stem or put the lenses in a new frame. They couldn't "fix/replace" the stem and had no frames to fit my lenses.

I ended up buying a cheap pair of sunglasses that had stems that would fit my glasses and swapping them out. That little trick won't work with the nose piece because of the way it's made.

:poop:

1. You have to do it just right... it's swish and flick!

As someone who needs to go do the eye-exam/purchase glasses thing, but has been putting it off because it's so danged expensive, i totally commiserate with you.

4. take you broken glasses to the optometrist
explain your predicament
ask if they have any suggestion or another set of frames your current lenses will fit into

i have done this a couple times for myself and family members
we are all blind as bats.....

Results??

1 time-they were in process of donating some obsolete frames to charity-i got a set.
Total cost--they switched it out for free.

other times--cost of a new cheap frame.

Each time they do it, it may require them to trim the lenes to fit--so you can only get away with this a couple of times at most.

so all may not be lost--good luck

5. WOOT! fixed them....
was rummaging through the junk drawer looking for a twisty tie... came across my old old old pair of glasses...

eureka! the nose piece on the old old old pair looked like it would work.

managed to get it off that pair, put in on my current pair. It's slightly smaller, but a dab of super glue now has it secured in the "clamp" type holder thingy...
