Some Winter photos from Fort Frederick

I went to a little known Fort from the French and Indian War, Fort Frederick in western Maryland today.

1. #6 is my favorite

Pretty deserted place in winter!

2. It was, it's apparently a campground too

but there were only a handful of people there and no one was near me when i was walking around the deserted fort. I want to go back in the spring when the inside of the fort is open.

I think it's remarkable that places like this endure to this day...

So very historic, and beautiful besides...

5. Oh I know, I didn't even know it existed till yesterday

I had to run out to Hagerstown to pick up a book and was looking for things to do while out there and happened to see it mentioned in a Hagerstown community website, lol. For something that's over 250 years old, it's in immaculate condition. the fact that there was snow on the ground and desolate made it all the better. I only wish they had forgotten to lock the gate to the fort, lol.

It wasn't that cold, nothing a couple layers and a wool hat couldn't fix. :-)

4. Wow, it's amazingly well preserved

Very nice shots! I live in a part of the world where the oldest buildings date from the late-1800s, so seeing something that's older than that is pretty cool.

And I also learned that Maryland gets snow in winter. I never would have guess that.

6. haha, it's the first snow we've gotten since LAST February

from someone who grew up in PA, Maryland winters SUCK! :P
