Well, everything is relative.
I'm happy as shit to find a solution for my deaf pooch. I am sitting silly as shit that I can see him blinking wherever he goes.

Lots of other shit going on under the radar here, and thank you, I have no idea what it is all about. And I appreciate not knowing a damned thing.

But for what I can see obviously, from who responds to who, and never to others, and when and why, I can figure some things out. I also have my own preferences, for my own reasons.

Oops! The dog is blinking again, under my face, and requesting attention. I love this! I WANT him to be able to communicate with me.

1. God I love this thing. He had to go outside,
He woke me up, and I could see where he was with that collar blinking.

He keeps hiding and pretending to be a adorable. I can see the lights flashing no matter what he hides under, LOL!

Shhhhhh!

3. I'm glad the collar is working out for you...
My female dog is deaf.

Mine do not wear collars unless I walk them. I have a big backyard, so I usually let them run back there.

I never let them out alone...my neighbor two doors down is crazy mean, and I fear he will poison my dogs...and I'm not kidding.

4. I'm not worried about the yard. I have him fenced in. He can run free.
It's in the house I have trouble. I can't see him, and I step on him. And sometimes I trip over him. He camps out in the darndest places!

I can see the sneaky little poop now. Cause I can see the collar blinking. Honestly, I think he was talking to the cats and trying to kill me. (Not serious)

I can see blinking blue lights.

This thing is a godsend!

I step on my deaf pooch, accidentally.

He squeals, and I really hate it. I don't mean to hurt him. This light collar is wonderful!

I can find the link again if you want it.

That's brilliant. My dog is deaf, lame and incontinent. I think I need more than a collar.

13. Discuss this with your vet.
I am only saying that in my particular circumstances with my deaf dog, the "flashing collar" is a major enhancement for both of us.

You seem to have a pet that you consider lame, and is also incontinent. How you deal with that is up to you and the vet to judge.

I am sorry that a lighted collar seems so silly to you.

Oh well...

I'm glad it works for you and your dog.
My dog is almost fifteen years old. By lame, I mean her hind legs barely work. She's reached the end of her days.
I'm probably being selfish by not putting her down yet.

30. well then, I am very sorry if I misunderstood.
I thought you might be jacking my chain.

My dog is about 15 years too. But for being deaf, he is fully functional in every way. He still thinks he's a puppy! LOL!

I honestly don't know what to do when his time comes.
He is just deaf now, and takes a little extra care and measures.

I certainly would not have him put to sleep for being deaf! I can make arrangements to help him. And I have, and I am really trying.

20. It does hurt my feelings when only 1 or 2 people respond to a thread of mine
Then I see 10 or 12 people reply to a good night thread... so I know people are around. There is also one DUer who I've noticed, recently, who just started not replying to me in her threads. Do I have to remember to myself, "Don't post in her threads... you might offend her." ? Why do simple things need to get complicated? Like a friend of mine who no longer posts here told me, "It's so difficult to keep track of who is friends with whom and which thread it's okay to post in and which it's not..." I'm beginning to agree.

Sometimes, I think to myself, "If I had any pride at all I'd walk away from this place and never look back."

23. With all the complete crap that I post in here...
I think I would actually be devastated if I took this seriously.

I only have one real hot button on the internet, and I'm sure that I have made that clear plenty of times. I know that some people do indeed actually feel pain from insensitive posts. For example...make fun of a sick person? A fat person? A religious person? That screws me into the ceiling...reason being...the people that feel the pain.

Personally, I don't really feel the pain. I'm happy with myself, I know who I am, and I care about what is posted, but I don't care for MYSELF about what is posted.

Hope I am making sense here.

I also have my favorites here too, but I don't respond to every single thing they post, or say.

C'mon honey, let's just not take such things so personally, okay?

:loveya:
Now that's love.
Poop was a sign for sure. My son adopted over the summer, and Bam peed on my floor as soon as I got to the bottom of the stairway to greet him. Well...he's still so happy to meet women and children that he pees. He's got some 'potty issues' so we think he may have been abused...He's an excitable boy...we love him. He's next door, though (apartment over garage) so that's why I need my own friend....I'm just worried that he won't stop barking for her when she moves in...We'll see how it goes...when it goes!

You've had him 15 years...I had my beautiful Maxi for 10 years...I couldn't think about getting another dog for many, many, years....Now the urge is so strong...I need a doggie! Okay, enough whining...

Oh, checked the collar out...I didn't think it would be so bright! :o Life is good....
I'm rambling...guess I'll ramble on!

42. Yes, through "sick and sin"
He has been all over me during deaths in the family. Especially when my son died. You could not peel that dog off of me.

And he was depressed too. When he was not snuggled up next to me, he laid on my my son's bed and cried. The way dogs can. He knew the kid wasn't coming back.

ok, I am still watching the collar. It's really not so "noisy" or "intrusive". He got a liitle freaked out for a while, but after his ass was pasted onto my lap for a while, and some lovin', he decided it was okay.

It's really not so bad. It just flashes, and my pooch needed a bit of holding to understand it. He's okay.

I didn't know. I've not been in the lounge long enough to know much about so many people. I'm so sorry, you brought me to tears with that...
I never knew you lost your son. Sending you a special hug from my heart....I know he's with you each moment.

Your doggie has heart and soul...akin to human emotions...
We all love our pets, but most of them don't grieve with us...It's no wonder that your love is boundless and the collar is priceless....I had my Maxi during my year of death...I lost five loved ones in eleven months. This was so traumatic that I could not go through the grieving process...'the right way'...I don't think I ever made it to acceptance, I just turned numb....And so, when I lost Maxi two years later, my life fell apart. That was a long time ago...I'm okay, but just wanted you to know that I understand...much more than I did before. I'm sure most on the board knew this...It really hit me...

I'm glad he's comfortable in his collar...he's got you to let him know everything will be okay.

peace and love to you and your best friend~

45. You have not missed anything. I only recently shared the loss of my son.
Going to "numb" does not even explain the loss of my son. And honestly? I'd rather not discuss it.

My little poochie is my godsend. Seriously, he knew when my son died, and would not move off his bed. He thought if he camped out on son's bed long enough, he'd come back.

The poochie collar is working well!! I am seeing blue flashes on occasion, and I'm not hallucinating! LOL! (I never do that kinda crap anyway)

I really do not care to discuss my son here. I am not interested in condolences, and I do know they are sincere and heartfelt.

It's just like a cow pissing on a flat rock. I DO appreciate the care and compassion from people. It just rings hollow, because who could possibly know what that feels like?

Nor should one have to know what it feels like. It is not for me to force upon others, but to settle within myself.

Sounds like you're both enjoying the communication.

One of my friends had a dog who became paralyzed in her rear end when she developed a tumor on her spine. He was afraid he'd have to put her down but found a place that made wheels for dogs and she LOVED them. It was so cute, she'd barrel around with those things on - could even go for walks in the woods and stuff.

It really improved the quality of her life and allowed her to live about 2 years longer than she would have otherwise.

It's great people are making devices to improve pet's lives. :hi:

Brave little thing. She was ancient, she'd been hit by a car several times, she kept walking into furniture...and yet she was our role model, because she never stopped enjoying life, right up til the end.
