though I think us introverts are made by these tests and society to feel flawed. The Please Understand Me book was the one I used.

I'm an INTJ, borderline ISTJ. The questions that determine N/S tended to be the ones I found hardest to answer. It would be interesting to take the more detailed test that teases out the differences where you're on the border. I ought to be a scientist or technician. I used to be those, and that's my training. I'm working in more administrative functions for one of my jobs now, and I'm not happy.

I was rather skeptical of the whole notion of putting billions of people into 16 categories, but it really made a lot of sense. Before I took the test, I skimmed some profiles and the descriptions of I vs. E, S vs. N etc. and figured out I was somewhere between the two that I ended up being.

A really interesting book about it is about childhood types. I found it interesting to think about how I was as a child, before society pushes you toward or away from certain behaviors. I kept laughing aloud - yep, I was that weird kid! :)

I've heard of the book title...but that's it. My supervisor got it a few years ago for personal use. I really should buy it as I'm always in the midst of social interaction with little children. My own parenting errors are going into the next generation.

While I was taking the test years ago, the person who gave the seminar was walking around the room, just looking over our shoulders....I heard, "Oh my." I didn't get it at the time, with the different columns, but I was 100% INFP....no borderline, although I feel like I've been teetering on one forever.

It is very interesting that you're programed to what you wanted to do in life....Sorry that you're not happy in your position now...I'm assuming that you're still in the field in a different capacity? I could never handle that type of work....So I believe this is very accurate. You're quite fortunate, though. I just scanned the INTJ and your type has the most self-confidence!

30. I don't get that my type is supposed to have the most self-confidence

as I am the most self-critical, low self-esteem person I know. Maybe that's not captured by my time, or maybe that is how others perceive my type? When I read that a few weeks ago, I didn't get it.

I am pretty strong on the other types, and have a guess where I fall on the S/N thing. I DON'T have the S respect for authority and tradition by any stretch - I am a perpetual tinkerer, improver, critic, of everything. I do like practical applications though.

As for my jobs, I'm kind of on the edge of what I wish I was doing.

I'm thinking that the self-confidence is perhaps from within, not others' perception? And to think, that was the first sentence of the discription...Nothing about self-confidence with my type...probably because I don't have any...the most flawed person I know...also low self-esteem.

Of course it can't be 100% accurate, we're individuals, but I do find it all very fascinating. Also, wondered why an 'I' would have more self-confidence than an 'E'...I think maybe that's where perception may come in....I always think of extroverts as having great self-confidence and am drawn to them..Oh, everyone is ;-)

As far as my job, I'm in a field and time of my life where I'll stay forever...and I'm okay with that.
The way the economy is right now, I feel guilty for even having a job sometimes....go figure.
