15. I think Zodiac is tremendous too.

Having grown up in the Bay Area during that time, I can tell you that the movie is accurate to the centimeter in terms of locations, and even what Jim Dunbar looked like in that scene where he phones JD when he is doing the morning news.

That movie was so accurate it was chilling.

19. A lot of the Zodiac nuts bash the film

Because it relies heavily on Graysmith's book, and go on and on about the fiction of that book. I really don't care, it's a great film. Mark Ruffalo is especially fascinating as Dave Toschi.

I liked it ok, but I definitely think it is pretty overrated.

Not too surprising though - everyone loves Morgan Freeman, and Spacey's been in a bunch of movies that would have been a lot less well regarded without him (Usual Suspects, and American Beauty, I'm looking at you)

11. Panic Room was interesting because I couldn't see how there was a whole movie there

it was okay, not great but a "good movie"

Fight Club was really good and The Game was actually very good (love the "man taken out of his element and forced to adapt" movies)

Se7en was okay but I could tell it was Kevin Spacey from the voice early on.

Don't know if I'd quire call it a masterpiece, but it's as close as any movie in the last decade. Most of his other movies are pretty solid, but not masterpieces, IMO.

the narrative precision of that film was brilliant - it's his best overall imo

"fight club" was an amazing adaptation, but not quite the massive undertaking that "zodiac" was

"zodiac" was based on robert graysmith's compilation of evidence in the zodiac killings

since it was a "non-fictional" adaptation (the veracity of graysmith's work remains debatable), the film became more a venture into fincher's own brand of storytelling than "fight club"

"fight club" is far more iconic though

both great films, as is "se7en"

he has had some hits & misses ("the game" & "panic room" were marginal at best) - but i think "zodiac" is his masterpiece

have not seen "benjamin" yet

I'm pretty picky on what films get that word. Shawshank, Mockingbird and a few others. Se7en was pretty good. Benjamin Button was fairly good...not deserving of winning, IMO.

18. Even though "Se7en" is the film I consider Fincher's masterpiece, "Zodiac" is probably the

most precise film I've ever seen since Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket."

It's almost uncanny how detailed, almost obsessive (in the best possible way) "Zodiac" is. If "Se7en" didn't exist, my pick for Fincher's best film would absolutely be "Zodiac", without question.

20. Fight Club is a classic. Se7en is overrated, The Game was underappreciated.

Aside from Fight Club (and those I haven't seen), he seems to tip his hand, or not create much mystery, or maybe just not make you care about the mystery. The Game was fairly predictable, but you could still see how the protagonist would be baffled, and the ending was strong enough to make it work, in any case. And I have a minor crush on Deborah Unger, so that helped.

I got bored with Se7en early and didn't watch all of it, and barely remember what I did watch. It seemed more like it wanted to mess with your head than tell a story. Maybe it got interesting later.

"Fight Club" is a classic as well as his masterpiece. Something about the very end was a little soft--maybe it just slipped into cliche too easily, which was out of synch with the rest of the film. But it was a minor complaint for me.

I haven't seen the others. Only "Zodiac" looked interesting to me. I don't like crime films much, but I liked the way the reviews described it.

David Fincher has great potential,but picks the lousy scripts
to direct.

Honestly,I am not a fan of any of his films.
