We're planning a trip to Ireland in June
Need some input re: which is cheaper, flying in to Heathrow or Gatwick etc.

We want to stay in/around Dublin. Also want to venture out into the countryside as well. Not sure if we want to rent a car or not.

Any loungers been to the Emerald Isle? :hi:

1. Just fly into Dublin or Shannon
When I went a couple years ago, direct flights from Newark to there weren't any more expensive than tickets to London.

Check out Glendalough. And if you're into literature, the Literary Pub Crawl in Dublin is fun.

were thinking about maybe spending a couple of nights in London and then on to Dublin. I totally want to do the Literary Pub Crawl.

3. you're probably better off just flying to Dublin
Sure, it seems like a flight to London and then a cheap flight to Ire. might be cheaper, but London is EXPENSIVE. Also worth considering is that the train from one of those airports into the city is going to cost like 15 pounds each, as it will to go to whatever airport you'll fly out to Ireland from, so that's 4 train fares, plus tube fare (3 pounds one-way, I think) once you're in the city. You'll also have to account for it taking a few hours from wherever you stay to that airport to go to Ireland, so your day in London will be spent going to the airport.
