You know what? Fuck this game. Fuck it.
I spent hours slogging my way through the final dungeon in Final Fantasy IV for the DS. I'd survived quite a few close calls, because every single battle there is absolutely brutal. The enemies are all overpowered, have tons of hit points, and will exploit your weaknesses constantly. I had to run from some battles, but unfortunately, you can't run from monsters that hide in chests, so the game gets to force you to fight that pair of Blue Dragons you've been running from the entire dungeon because they're completely unfair. I just LOVE when half of my party is wiped out before I even get to do anything. I managed to survive that one (wasting about 20 phoenix downs and 5 elixirs in the process) only to get slaughtered by a Red Dragon just as I was about to make it to a save point. Now I get to do it all over again. This isn't 'gameplay,' this is sadism.

I say 'fuck this game' right now, but I know I'll keep playing...cause now I'm pissed and I want to kick the game's ass just to make a point. Seriously, though, I don't need to fight a Behemoth or a Red Dragon or a pair of Blue Dragons every time I open a damn chest. At least make it so they're not as strong as the fucking bosses, because it's bad enough you have to worry about the bosses, but to get better gear you need to fight unfair battles against overpowered monsters. You need better gear to survive these battles...how do you get the gear? Oh yeah...kill the monsters in the chest.

I hate you Square Enix. :argh:

When you remaking Final Fantasy V and VI for the DS, anyway? :hide:

2. Yeah, the way I beat IV
was to just walk around in circles and keep getting EXP and whatnot in the last dungeon for quite a while before I went and confronted the boss.

Unfortunately the FF series has always involved a bit more grinding than I'd prefer. Which might work well for MMOs, but not as well for a single player game IMO.

3. Did you play the DS version of IV?
They made it tougher cause apparently it wasn't tough enough originally.

8. Nope, original SNES.
Although the enemies at the end WERE ridiculously tough in the same ways you're describing.

4. You can beat the game easy by doing the following:
Take the game out of the DS, and whip it at the ground as hard as you can. It will shatter with a satisfying explosion of plastic. Congratulations, you just beat all the blue and red dragons, and every boss in the game with one mighty crushing blow. You the man!

7. How do you think I beat World of Warcraft?
I got tired of grinding, so I ejected the CD, and applied pressure to it with my thumb and middle finger until the disc buckled under the crushing pressure of my death grip, sending countless plastic daggers and thousands of glittery shards of CD cascading into my trash barrel with a satisfying earsplitting crack. I then blew my nose and threw the used tissue on the remains of the Lich King. I slept well that night :)

9. The Super Star Wars series was ridiculously difficult.
Only one I played a decent amount of was Super Return of the Jedi... I don't think I ever got past the first three or four levels on my own.
